Swiernik Picks Up 3rd Win of ESS CNY Speedweek Saturday at Fulton

By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | For the third time in four nights, Dylan Swiernik sat in Empire Super Sprints victory lane during the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek. After setting quick time in his group and starting on the pole, the Port Leyden, NY driver led 17 of 25 laps on his way to capture $2,500 and re-take the CNY Speedweek points lead.
Starting on the Pinnacle Pole, Dylan Swiernik jumped out to the lead early, though it was short lived as Joe Trenca was able to get past him to take the lead on lap two.
Trenca would remain in control of the field for the next 8 laps, building a lead of nearly two seconds at one point. On lap 10, however, Swiernik got back by the Clay, NY driver to retake the lead.
Behind the lead duo, Jordan Poirier, who had started 10th, had quietly worked his way into the top 5. On lap 11, he slid into a podium position, and just two laps later got by Trenca for second. Neither driver would be able to close the gap on Swiernik, however, and he crossed the line first for his third win of the week.
“All wee my guys have been telling me to just be patient, we have the car to win,” said Swiernik in victory lane. “I pulled a couple of sliders, some of the lap cars pulled up for me but when everybody’s on the top you have to get past them as soon as you can, I didn’t know who was coming or if the bottom was coming in. I just stuck up top and tried to hold them off.”
Jordan Poirier finished second after starting 10th.
“Our car was really good, just like every race this week though we started a little deep,” said Poirier. “It all comes down to tomorrow at Weedsport though, we just need a solid finish and we should be good.”
Joe Trenca rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium, finishing third.
“We were good, just lacking some stuff,” said Trenca. “We’re turning our week around, it’s been a rough week.”
33 cars signed in for the fourth night of CNY Speedweek, splitting the field into four timed hot lap sessions. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Alex Therrien, Chase Moran, DJ Christie and Dylan Swiernik. Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek, Matt Tanner, Nick Sheridan and Kyle Smith, while Ryan Turner won the Goliath Holdings dash. Larry Wight won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main.
The Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek will conclude tonight at the Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, NY.
