Tim Sears Jr. Takes Fulton Speedway Opening Night Modified Win

By Dave Medler

FULTON, NY (May 10, 2025) – Defending Fulton Speedway Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified Track Champion Tim Sears Jr. from Hastings, NY picked up the opening night feature win. The win wasn’t easy after a late race lead swapping battle with Dave Marcuccilli.

Other winners on Burke’s Do-Best Center night were, Tony Finch II (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman)

When the 35-Lap Tracey Road DIRTcar Modfied feature took the green, Chad Phelps took off from the front row setting a fast pace out front.

With five laps on the scoring tower Phelps was still out front with Tyler Meeks, Dave Marcuccilli, Billy Dunn and Sean Beardsley battling in the top five.

On lap eight Tim Sears Jr. drove from his sixteenth starting spot into the top five.

With ten laps complete, Phelps still led with Marcuccilli, Meeks, Dunn, and Sears still racing out front.

Lap 12 would see a caution that Marcuccilli would take advantage of as he blasted into the lead on the restart

On lap thirteen the field would see the red when Willy Decker rolled. He was okay.

When the race went back to green, Sears got a great restart getting by Phelps down the back straight, then set his sights on Marcuccilli.

At the halfway point Marcuccilli held a 1.6 second lead with Sears, Phelps, Dunn, and Matt Caprara showed in the top five still in contention.

Marcuccilli still led on lap twenty, but his lead was quickly shrinking with a fast-closing Sears.

With ten laps to go it was Marcuccilli and Sears as the two pulled away from the field in the fight for the win.

On lap twenty-six Sears would move off the bottom to look for speed and would find it taking the lead on lap twenty-eight. One lap later Marcuccilli would battle back retaking the top-spot in a fierce fight for the win.

On lap thirty-three Tim Sears was able to make the winning pass and go to victory lane to start the season for the defending track champion. Dave Marcuccilli, Matt Caprara, Chad Phelps, and Billy Dunn completed the top five.

Tony Finch II would lead every lap of the 25-Lap DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman feature out running Hunter Hollenback, Emmett Waldron, Jason Parkhurst Jr. and Mike Button who finished second through fifth.

The 15-Lap Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stock feature would see Adam Hunt and Brennan Fitzgibbons lead laps. Defending track champion John Pietrowicz would take the lead with a handful of laps left and cruise to the win. Brennan Fitzgibbons, Adam Hunt, Andy Kieffer, and Ron Hawker.

Brayden Bullock would take the big win in the 15-Lap E&V Energy Novice Sportsman Feature. Michael Lupold, Parker Fowler, Jacob Gurecki, and Andrew Eaton brought home strong top-five finishes.

Saturday, May 17 Ferris Mowers and RVMD of Oswego will present one of the fan favorites when King’s Smash ‘Em C rash ‘Em Demolition Derbies will invade the speedway.
