Fulton Speedway Outlaw Weekend Fast Friday Delivers For Horning, Joe Trenca, Davis III, Stangle, Loucks, and Smith.
FULTON, NY (October 3, 2025) - Fast Friday, an action-packed Outlaw 200 Weekend tradition. Four 15-lap Qualifiers kicked off competitive action for the Modifieds, with Ronnie Davis III, Matt Stangle, Brandon Loucks, and Matt Smith putting themselves in the starting field for Saturday’s Outlaw 200. Full programs were held for the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series and Empire Super Sprints, with Luke Horning and Joe Trenca claiming feature victories. The always competitive Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Shootout field took shape, with six heat races being contested.
In the first Modified Qualifier, Ronnie Davis III started seventh and quickly picked his way towards the front. After slipping by Dave Marcuccilli for second, it appeared second place would be as far as Davis could get. Mike Maresca was setting a rapid pace in the lead, but on lap ten, former Outlaw 200 winner Maresca slowed and pulled to the infield with mechanical issues. Davis, former Fulton Speedway track champion, now found himself all alone out in front. With some clean track, Davis cruised to a Qualifier win and locked-in starting spot for Saturday’s Outlaw 200.
Cole Stangle had never turned a lap at Fulton Speedway prior to this weekend, but that was certainly not apparent in the second Qualifier. Stangle started up front, but ran a smooth and steady line around the bottom to put some distance between himself and the battle for second. Ryan Dolbear eventually ended up with that second spot, closing in on Stangle in the final circuits. Dolbear reached Stangle’s rear bumper in the last set of corners, but it was Cole Stangle reaching the checkered first to put his 20c in Saturday’s Outlaw 200.
After an eventful start to the third Qualifier, southern tier competitor Brandon Loucks found himself in the lead. Like Stangle, Loucks had next to no laps at Fulton Speedway prior to Thursday night, but showed good pace. Loucks held a steady gap over Shawn Shaw and Tim Sears Jr. for the majority of the event, with Sears trying every option to get by Shaw. Some late traffic allowed Shaw and Sears to reel in Loucks’ 23, but Loucks beat the pack back to the finish line to place himself in his first Outlaw 200 feature event.
During Thursday night’s open practice, Matt Smith set the fastest overall time. On Friday, Smith was still fast. In the fourth Qualifier, Smith took off and built up a commanding lead, but 2025 track champion Billy Dunn was on a mission. Dunn started seventh, reached second on lap ten, and chopped seconds off of Smith’s lead in the final laps. That lead Smith built up was enough of a buffer to keep Dunn at bay, as Smith punched his ticket into the 39th annual Outlaw 200.
The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series 30-lap event went Luke Horning’s way. Horning started on the pole, but found himself under heavy fire from Tommy Lizotte as the race neared halfway. Lizotte stuck a nose out front to lead lap 17, but one set of corners later, Lizotte made contact with a lapped car and ended up at the back of the field. With Horning’s main challenger relegated to the rear, Horning set sail and cruised to his second triumph in as many seasons during Outlaw Weekend. Shane Playford crossed the finish line in second, with Sid Harmer, Tyler Bushey, and Denis Gauvreau completing the top five.
The Empire Super Sprints A-Main belonged to Joe Trenca. While the brawl for the runner-up spot lasted the majority of the event, with Jason Barney, Larry Wight, Dylan Swiernik, and more trading blow after blow, this battle was well behind Trenca. Rolling the bottom to perfection, Trenca went unchallenged for the duration of the event, taking a dominant victory to close out the Empire Super Sprints points season. Jordan Poirier scrapped his way up to second at the finish, with Danny Varin, Swiernik, and Jason Barney rounding out the top five.
The Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Shootout heat races are some of the most intense events of the season. 55 entries split into six heats, with a variety of winners locking themselves into Saturday’s 50-lap feature. Zach Sobotka spent much of 2025 in a Sprint Car, but returned to a Sportsman to win the first heat. Quebec sensation Donovan Lussier was the lone invader to win a heat, taking the second. Brewerton Speedway champion Jason Parkhurst Jr. grabbed the third heat, while veteran regulars Brett Sears and Dorian Wahdan had the handle on heats four and five. Sam Groom took one for the rookies, claiming the sixth and final heat. 18 cars are currently set for Saturday’s grid, with three consolation events to be held early in Saturday’s program to complete the field.
