Dave Marcuccilli Holds Off Late Race Challenges for Fulton Speedway Modified Win
By Dave Medler
FULTON, NY (June 28, 2025) – Dave Marcuccilli came into Saturday night in the top five Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified points with one thing missing on his check list, a feature win. All that changed when Marcuccilli parked it victory lane.
Marcuccilli took the lead after a lap 11 caution restart and held off all challengers the rest of way. With his win the Modifieds have not had a repeat winner this season.
Other winners on Fast Girlz – Primal Tee Shop night. Emmett Waldron (DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman) Parker Fowler (E & V Energy Novice Sportsman) Ron Hawker (Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stocks).
The 35-Lap Modified feature would see a complete restart when past feature winner Lance Willix broke and Larry Wight had a broken shock tower before a completed lap.
When the race went back to green Jordan Bennett would take the lead with two and three racing behind him on the fast and multi-groove racing surface.
Bennett still showed the way on lap five with Andrew Ferguson, Dave Marcuccilli, Amy Holland from seventh, and Kyle Devendorf raced for top five positions.
A caution on lap eleven would bunch the field up. Bennett, Marcuccilli, Holland, Devendorf, and Ferguson would bring the field to the green on the restart.
On the restart Marcuccilli would drive into the lead with Holland into second.
At the halfway point Marcuccilli held a comfortable lead. Holland, Ron Davis III from 12th, Tim Sears Jr.19th, and Devendorf were locked in a tight battle in the top five.
With ten to go Marcuccilli held a car lengths lead over Holland. Davis, Sears, and Billy Dunn from 14th joined the battle up front.
A yellow on lap twenty-seven and twenty-nine bunched the field up for a dash to the checkers.
On the restart Holland drove to the inside of Marcuccilli with Marcuccilli being able to hold the lead using the top side of turns one and two and the bottom of three and four.
With two laps to go Dunn went to the outside of Marcuccilli looking to steal the win. There was no denying Dave Marcuccilli from a hard-fought win over Billy Dunn. Amy Holland, Tim Sears Jr., and Ron Davis III finished second through fifth.
Mike Root would grab the lead at the start of the 25-Lap Sportsman feature until ‘Highbank Holdup’ Wednesday Sportsman feature winner Hunter Hollenbeck on the topside of the speedway would drive into the lead on lap six.
A yellow on lap seven slowed the pace. Hollenbeck, Root, Cody Manitta, Tony Finch II, and Teddy Clayton were the top five for the restart.
When the race went back to green, Finch moved into second and then took over the lead on lap eight.
Lap ten would see Finch with a sizable lead with Manitta in second with Emmett Waldron who started 14th, Hollenbeck, and Dave Moyer from 10th were in a tight fight in the top five.
A yellow on lap twelve for debris erased the 1.7 second lead Finch had built up.
A red came out on lap seventeen for a three-car incident that saw Mike Fowler go over. Everyone was okay.
On the restart Emmett Waldron took over the lead and from there drove away for the win for his second straight Saturday night victory. Tony Finch II, Jason Parkhurst Jr. came from 11th to finish third. Dave Moyer and Jimmy Moyer completed the top five.
There is nothing like seeing a first-time feature winner. That is what happened in the 15-Lap Novice Sportsman feature.
Parker Fowler took the lead at the drop of the green and would lead every lap for his first career win in the division. Brayden Bullock, Belle Hogan, Jacob Gurecki, and Keith Simpson finished second through fifth.
The 15-Lap Hobby Stock feature came down to a battle of two veterans. Ron Hawker held off three-time feature winner John Pietrowicz for his first victory this season. Brandon Barron, Andy Kieffer, and Adian Galvin completed the top five.
This Saturday, July 5 the Fulton Speedway will be back in a big way when the Empire Super Sprints CNY Speedweek race four will battle on the ‘Highbanks’ for $2,500-to-win. The Tracey Road DIRTcar Modifieds will put on the Sail Panels for the Sail Panel Showdown with a coveted Outlaw 200 starting spot on the line. The DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman, Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stocks, and E & V Energy Novice Sportsman will also be in action, presented by major marketing partner Jammer’s Sports Bar & Restaurant.
The annual Cannie Benefit Auction will take place. This year the CNY Humane Society benefits from the generosity from fans and businesses.
