Pietrowicz, Bonoffski triumph before rain dampens Syracuse Haulers & Regional Truck and Trailer Night

By Hannah Doll

FULTON, NY (June 10, 2024) - John Pietrowicz (Billy Whittaker Cars and Trux Hobby Stocks) and Chris Bonoffski (RL Cleaning 4-Cylinders) earned victories Saturday Night, June 8 at Fulton Speedway before an unexpected rainstorm dampened the remainder of the Syracuse Haulers/Regional Truck & Trailer racing program.

Craig Decamp and Matt Kitts would lead the 21-car RL Cleaning 4-Cylinder Highbank Holdup field to the Comfort Windows Firing Point with a $1000 winner's payday on the line. The 20-lap race would have both fans and competitors at the edge of their seats, with both cautions and rain becoming enemies to the racing action.

Willy Easling made the trek from Beaver Dams, NY earning a $50 "longest tow" award and dominated the bulk of the 20-lap feature. Easily the class of the field, Easling appeared headed to victory as he pulled away to large leads after multiple caution periods. A restart on lap 17 would change it all for Easling, however, when contact with then runner-up Justin Pope between turns one and two forced Easling pitside for the rest of the event. Pope would be relegated to the rear of the field for the incident handing Bonoffski the lead, which he would not relinquish over the final three laps.

A hard charging Tony Frezzo crossed the line second with fifteenth-place starter and $100 Hard Charger award winner, Tim Dunn, crossing the line in third. Oswego's Zak Petrie and Williamstown's Wally VanEpps rounded out the top five.

The Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stocks also hit the track for their main event, with John Pietrowicz picking up his third win of the season over runner-up Brandon Barron. Adam Hunt would cross the line in third, with last week's winner Brennan Fitzgibbons taking home the fourth spot. Ronald Hawker would round out the top five positions.

Make-up dates for the Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified, Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman and E & V Energy Novice Sportsman Features will be announced this week.
