Hill Learns Lessons on Slick New York Track

Inside Line Promotions – FULTON, N.Y. (May 3, 2017) – Contact with an infield tire foiled Alex Hill’s attempt to qualify for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints main event last Friday at Fulton Speedway.

Hill, who qualified fifth quickest in her group and who started second in her heat race, was racing for the fifth and final transfer position with one lap remaining when the contact sent her car spinning, eventually resulting in a DNF.

“I was racing with two cars for the final transfer and I was on the bottom because the rest of the track was really slick,” said Hill, who was making her first appearance at the track. “I just got a little too low.”

She later started ninth in the B Main and finished eighth.

“I just didn’t really go anywhere,” she said. “I’ve had a hard time with the New York tracks because they’ve been very slick and I’m not used to that.”

She was also scheduled to race last Saturday at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio. However, the event was rained out.

After taking this weekend off for her senior prom, the next racing action for Hill will be on May 11 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour followed by a visit to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on May 13.

“I’m really looking forward to going to Knoxville,” said Hill, who competed in the 360 Knoxville Nationals there last year. “It’s one of my favorite tracks.”
