Georgia Late Model Racer Ahnna Parkhurst Set To Make The Long Trip North To The Fulton Speedway To Compete In The Late Models During The 32nd Annual

FULTON, NY – September 21, 2017 – If there was a long distance award handed out during the 32nd Annual Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 Weekend it would go to Evans, GA Late Model racer Ahnna Parkhurst.

The 17-year-old lady racer will make the almost 1,000-mile trip north to the Fulton Speedway to compete in Pit Stop Convenience Stores – Go Nuclear Late Model 50.

In 2017, Ahnna has three victories, they came at Swansboro Raceway and Rome Speedway both in Georgia. The third win came after setting fast time and taking top honors in the $2,000 to-win race at Modoc Raceway in South Carolina.

Two of those wins came at a very tough period in her life. Ahnna’s mother Laurie, passed away June 9th after a 13-year battle with breast cancer.

“After the Dr. told us this was going to be her last holidays, I was determined to win for her, and she did. Her third, and biggest win at Modoc Raceway in South Carolina was in memory of her mother.

Also, this season, she made her first Super Late Model start at Boyd’s Speedway in Georgia in July with only a couple test sessions under her belt. She was only out-qualified by Late Model star Brandon Overton. “I saw where I was on the board and thought there had to be another No.23 here, Ahnna said with laugh. “It was so awesome to go out there and lock ourselves in. She finished 11th and ran every lap in her Super Late Model debut.

On the personal side, Ahnna was born in Fulton, NY but moved away when she was two years old. She still has family in the Upstate NY area that she, her dad and sister like to visit. Of course, when in the area, no trip north would be complete without a trip to the Fulton Speedway. She is really looking forward to competing on the “Highbanks. “I’m really excited to come up and race. I want to compete and make a good showing, she said with excitement in her voice.

With tracks in the south having a reputation of being tacky and fast, Ahnna related some are, but she prefers to race on hard slick from top to bottom like she will see at Fulton. She also feels it provides better racing.

Not only does her family have a strong connection to the Fulton area, her father’s company has ties to the Fulton Speedway.

Her dad Mike, is the Vice-President of Golf Sales at E-Z-Go. One of their divisions is Textron-Off Road that is a major sponsor on Jason Occhino’s Late Model and Max McLaughlin’s Modified. Another one of their divisions is Cushman, they are the provider of the Cushman Hauler that does work around the speedway and is used at the Speedway pulling a trolley bringing fans into the speedway, plus popular fan pit tours and brings race teams down to victory lane to celebrate with their driver.

The conversation turned to how tough it is for adults to work, have a home life, spend countless hours in the race shop and on the road let alone a 17-year-old.  “I do my school online at night. That leaves me plenty of time in the race shop during the day. In talking with her, outside of racing, she has a boyfriend and friends just like any teenager in America.

Without an abundance of race tracks like we have in Upstate NY, it can be hours on the road at times to get to a race. “Instead of staring at my phone or sleeping, I get a lot of work (school) done and actually get ahead, she said about being a student and a racer.

Ahnna Parkhurst is very outgoing and personable with a lot talent behind the wheel of a Late Model. If you get a chance to stop by her www.lauriesfund.org /RCR/tgen/Grizzly Coolers/No.23 she would love to meet new fans.
