Mr. DIRTcar 358-Mod Champ Trail Race Cancelled At Fulton Speedway Weather, track prep concerns put emphasis on Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Show

Early Spring weather conditions always pose a concern for Northeastern track operators as well as the fans and racers making their annual plans.

Record snowfall in Central New York and surrounding areas forced Fulton Speedway officials to re-evaluate their 2010 season-opening weekend, and after receiving full company support, have cancelled the Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship event scheduled on Friday, April 9.

“Right now we’ll probably need a lot of good days just to get in that first show,” lamented Fulton Speedway promoter Harvey Fink, who also guides race day operations throughout the season at sister track Brewerton Speedway. “Our biggest priority is getting the facility ready for when the Big-Blocks come in. There’s always a lot of excitement and activity on opening day, and with a series event leading off, everything is magnified even more.”

The April 10 Super DIRTcar Series ‘VP Racing Fuels Spring Fever 100’ for Big-Block Modifieds at Fulton remains on course without a rain date.

“We’ll continue to give our tracks full cooperation in situations like this, especially considering the circumstances when track preparation is paramount,” remarked DIRTcar Northeast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Joe Skotnicki. “Presentation of a successful show is important for everyone involved. Making the announcement now to cancel this event allows plenty of time to get the word out to both fans and racers who can adjust their own plans accordingly.”
