"BILLY THE KID" MAKES IT FOUR VICTORIA 200 WINS IN A ROW

FULTON, NY - It was the fourth ever Fulton Speedway Victoria 200 on September 24,1989, but the end result was the same. Billy Pauch recorded his fourth straight Victoria 200 win on the Fulton Speedway high banks on this night, much to the amazement of everyone.

Donnie Wetmore and Jim Mahaney led the huge Victoria 200 starting field down to the nights initial green flag. Wetmore raced out to the early lead, but it was a short lived one though as Mahaney led the field on lap four. Mahaney would lead through lap 15, when Wetmore regained the top spot.

Dale Planck became the third leader of the race on lap 54. Pauch started to move to the front and took the lead away from Planck on lap 60. And Pauch would continue to lead through the end of the first 100 lap segment in search of his fourth straight win.

Rich Ricci Jr. came charging from the fourth position at the start of the final 100 lap segment to take the lead away from Pauch. Bob Podolak was another driver on the move in the second half and Podolak came away with the lead on lap 117. Through lap 150 Ricci and Podolak swapped the lead on numerous occasions.

Pauch came from third to first in five circuits and with 155 laps complete Pauch regained the lead. Richie Tobias started to make a late race charge and with ten laps to go was right behind Pauch. But, Pauch held on for his fourth straight win in the Fulton Speedway classic.

Richie Tobias, Rich Ricci Jr., Podolak and Mike Ricci completed the top five finishers in the fourth ever Victoria 200. Rain on Saturday forced the entire program to be completed on Sunday with the support division races being rescheduled to the following weekend.
