PRENTICE WINS FIRST
EVER DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE AT FULTON SPEEDWAY ON
FERNANDEZ AUTO MALL NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Scott Prentice won his
first ever 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature race at Fulton
Speedway last Saturday on Fernandez Auto Mall Night. Prentice
was one of the drivers that joined the Fulton Speedway field at
the start of the 2004 season when the track made the change to
headline the DIRT Big Block Modifieds. The victory for the
second generation driver from Central Square, N.Y. was worth
$2,000.
Tim Sears raced out to the
early lead at the start of the Fernandez Auto Mall DIRT Big
Block Modified feature from the outside pole starting position.
With five laps complete Tim Sears was being followed in the top
five Dave Axton, Prentice, A.J. Romano and Jeff Rudalavage.
Sears would lead the 25-car starting field for the first 14
circuits.
Prentice took the top spot away
from Sears on the lap-15 restart. At the halfway mark Prentice,
Tim Sears, Tim Fuller, Jimmy Phelps and Matt Sheppard raced in
the top five. Romano, Rudalavage, Pat Ward, Alan Johnson and
Axton raced in positions sixth through tenth respectively at the
halfway stage. Fuller moved into the second position on lap-24.
The two-time defending Fulton
Speedway Track Champion then set his sights on Prentice. Fuller
was able to close in on Prentice in the closing laps, but he was
never able to make the winning move past. Prentice recorded the
popular win at the Home of the Dynomax Victoria 200. Fuller had
to settle for second with Jimmy Phelps, Johnson and Ward
completing the top five feature finishers.
Kevin Bates won his fourth
20-lap DIRT Sportsman feature race last Saturday night. Bates,
the current point leader, had the field covered on this
occasion. Jeremy Pitcher, Greg Doust, Chris Higgins and Mike
Bowman finished in positions second through fifth respectively.
Bates took the top spot away from rookie driver Chris Higgins on
lap-15.
Lee Burnett won his second
20-lap DIRT Pro Stock feature race of the 2005 season last
Saturday night. Ray Maloney, Bob Buono, Bill Clark Jr. and John
Pietrowicz completed the top five feature finishers. Burnett
passed both Maloney and Buono on lap-14 to take the feature
lead. It was a lead that Burnett would never give back with the
top six finishers all grouped together.
Phil Marsden won his third
15-lap Pure Stock feature race of the season last Saturday.
Steve Woodworth, Rusty Marsden, Ron Hawker and Ron Marsden
finished in positions second through fifth respectively.
Woodworth appeared headed to his first ever Fulton Speedway Pure
Stock feature race victory, but Phil Marsden made a last lap
pass to steal the win away.
Chad Guthrie earned the victory
in the 25-lap Four Cylinder Enduro feature. Skip DeGroff, Jerry
Herbert, Matt Wetter and Mark Johnston completed the top five
feature finishers. It was Guthrie's second win of the season.
Action will continue this
Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds,
DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks and the Mod Lites
all in competition. Race time is set for 7 p.m. For more
