DRIVERS HONORED AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY / FULTON SPEEDWAY AWARDS BANQUET
EAST SYRACUSE, NY...The top drivers from the
just concluded race season at both Brewerton Speedway and Fulton
Speedway were honored recently at the 2005 Awards Banquet which was held
at the Wyndham Syracuse in East Syracuse, N.Y. The event was the final
official gathering of the 2005 season for all the drivers, race teams,
officials, sponsors and fans of the two popular Central New York based
auto racing facilities.
Alan Johnson claimed yet another
Brewerton Speedway DIRT Big Block Modified track championship this
season, his first with car owner Jeff Rudalavage. Tim Fuller, Gary
Tomkins, Pat Ward, Billy Decker, Chuck Bower, Matt Sheppard, Scott
Prentice, Ryan Phelps and Jim Witko completed the top ten in the final
season rankings.
Ageless veteran Bill Anderson Sr.
earned his second IMCA Modified Track Championship at the D-shaped DIRT
Demon this season. Johnny Hill, Les Hubbard, Bill Anderson Jr., Dale
Caswell, Tim Hearne, Carmen Vona, Tony Finch, Rich Townsend and Kevan
Cook finished in positions second through tenth in the final season
standings.
Tim Devendorf won his second straight
Brewerton Speedway Mod Lite Track Championship during the 2005 season.
Darren Forbes, Frank Doll Jr., Dan Williams, Doug Williams, Lowell Zehr,
Joe Garafolo, Joe Abbass, Ken Gamlen and Steve Miller rounded out the
top ten in the final standings for the 2005 season.
Russell Erwin earned his first ever
track title at Brewerton Speedway this season with his championship
coming in the Four Cylinder Stock class. Todd Williamson, Chuck
Powelczyk, Joey Delacruz, Jeff Herbert, Doug Farnsworth, Glen Erwin, Sam
Curcie, Lorraine Powelczyk and Rich Murtaugh completed the top ten in
the final season standings.
Chad Dupra won the Four Cylinder Enduro
Track Championship over Josh Herbert and Jerry Herbert.
Tim Fuller won his third straight
season title at Fulton Speedway this season in the DIRT Big Block
Modified class. Alan Johnson, Pat Ward, Matt Sheppard, Billy Decker,
Jimmy Phelps, Scott Prentice, Tom Sears, John Barker and Ryan Phelps
finished in positions second through tenth respectively.
Kevin Bates claimed the 2005 Fulton
Speedway DIRT Sportsman Track Championship at Fulton Speedway. Greg
Doust, Mark Yorker, Joey Williams, Brett Tonkin, Jeremy Pitcher, Sam
Reakes IV, Roy Bresnahan, Mike Bowman and Jim Bowman rounded out the top
ten finishers in the final standings.
T.J. Fitzgibbons earned the 2005 Fulton
Speedway DIRT Pro Stock track title which was the first season
championship for the veteran driver. John Pietrowicz, Billy Clark, Jack
Terrell, Ray Maloney, Bob Buono, Scott Beeles, Ricky Breed, Dale
Guernsey and Jason Rood finished in positions second through tenth in
the final standings.
Rusty Marsden claimed his second
straight Fulton Speedway Pure Stock track title this season. Chad
Crouse, Phil Marsden, Steve Woodworth, Curt Prevo, Gary Barton, Jay
McGillicuddy, Dan Hofmann Sr., Ron Hawker and Rob Whipple completed the
top ten in the final standings in the Pure Stock class.
Jerry Herbert was named the 2005 Fulton
Speedway Four Cylinder Enduro track champion. Chad Guthrie and Skip
DeGroff followed Herbert in the final standings.
Rookie of the Year Awards presented by
Can-Am Enterprises were awarded to A.J. Kingsley IMCA Modified, Joe
Abbass Mod Lite, Sam Curcie Four Cylinder Stock division, Chad Phelps
Fulton Speedway DIRT Modified, Roy Bresnahan DIRT Sportsman, Billy Clark
DIRT Pro Stock and Jim Donaldson in the Pure Stock class.
Most Improved Driver Awards presented
by Can-Am Enterprises were presented to Jeff Isabell Brewerton DIRT
Modified, Tony Finch IMCA Modified, Lowell Zehr Mod Lite, Joey Delacruz
Four Cylinder Stock, Jim Witko Fulton Speedway DIRT Modified, Sam Reakes
IV DIRT Sportsman, Bob Buono DIRT Pro Stock and Curt Prevo in the Pure
Stock ranks.
Roy Bresnahan pocketed $1,000 for being
the top finisher in the Gypsum Express DIRT Sportsman crate powered
engine category. Rob Bellinger claimed $500 for being the runner-up in
the standings.
Promotion Speed Supply handed out three
special awards for the past season. Joey Williams was named the top
newcomer in the DIRT Sportsman field at Fulton Speedway, while Scott
Prentice picked up the Dedication Award for competing at both tracks.
Chuck Bower received the Hard Luck Award in the DIRT Modified division
from Brewerton Speedway.
Five special awards ended that portion
of the program. They were presented to Dave Ritchie and the entire Track
Safety Crew at both Brewerton and Fulton Speedway's. Fernandez Auto Mall
was honored for their contribution to both tracks. Carl Tellier of
Dynomax was once again honored for the major contribution of Dynomax in
sponsoring the Dynomax Victoria 200. Ricky Jones was named the Brewerton
Speedway Fan of the Year, while Katie Kane received the Fulton Speedway
Fan of the Year award.
The $1,000 cash drawing for drivers in
attendance was split between Tim Fuller and Jim Witko.
Leaf Racewear, Dynomax, Cerio Ignition,
Shoenfeld Headers, IMCA, Top Stitch Custom Embroidery, Kirkey Seats,
Hoosier Tire Northeast, A two Z Dyno Service and Lias Tire all
contributed contingency awards that were presented at the affair.
Door prizes were provided by Gater
Racing News, Area Auto Racing News, Adam Ross Cut Stone, IMCA, Dynomax,
Eagle Beverage, Top Stitch Custom Embroidery, Thomas Video and Lias
Tire.
