DECKER SWEEPS BOTH FEATURES ON HOFMANN HOT HAUS / B104.7 NIGHT

Billy Decker completed a sweep of the DIRT Big Block Modified & 358-Modified features at Fulton on August 7. Decker also won the DIRT Big Block Modified main Friday at Brewerton.

FULTON, NY...The "Franklin Flyer" was certainly flying high Saturday at Fulton Speedway. Decker won both the 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature as well as the 25-lap DIRT 358 Modified main event on Hofmann Hot Haus / B104.7 Radio Night. The victory for the Gypsum Wholesalers DIRT Big Block Modified team was worth $2,000. The win for the Stadium International DIRT 358 Modified team earned $1,200.

Brian Murphy raced out to the early lead at the start of the Hofmann Hot Haus / B104.7 DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Murphy would lead the first two circuits. Scott Prentice took the top spot away from Murphy on lap three. Once in front Prentice was able to pull away from the field in the event that stayed under green flag conditions.

At the halfway point Prentice was all alone in the lead with Jimmy Phelps, Tim Fuller, Matt Sheppard and Jeff Rudalavage following in the top five. The first caution of the race came on lap-20 when Dave Rauscher spun. The big lead Prentice owned was lost with the caution and it turned out to be a big break for Decker who moved into the fourth position on the restart.

Decker moved into the second position on lap-23 and he had to run down Prentice who was hoping to open up another lead. It was on lap-26 when Decker took the top spot away from Prentice. Once in front Decker never made a mistake as he recorded his second feature win of the evening. Prentice finished a strong second with Sheppard, Fuller and Pat Ward completing the top five feature finishers.

Todd Burley jumped out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT 358 Modified main event. Burley would lead the talented field for the opening four circuits. Alan Johnson took the top spot away from Burley on lap five. At the halfway mark Johnson was being chased in the top five by Fuller, Decker, Rudalavage and Burley. Decker passed Fuller for the second spot on lap-15 and he then started to chase Johnson.

After several laps of running down the leader Decker made his move for the lead under Johnson on lap-21. In the final laps the top three cars were all in contention for the win, but Decker wasn't about to give the victory away. Johnson settled for second with Fuller third. Burley and Rudalavage completed the top five feature finishers.

Ryan Richardson passed Tom Juhl on the final lap to earn the victory in the DIRT Sportsman main event. Greg Doust, Mark Yorker and Kevin Bates completed the top five feature finishers in the 20-lap event. Juhl led the first 19-laps of the feature race before Richardson moved by on the way to the checkered flag.

Jason Rood returned to the winners circle at the conclusion of the 20-lap DIRT Pro Stock main event. Lee Burnett, T.J. Fitzgibbons, Bob Buono and Bret Belden finished in positions second through fifth respectively in the 23-car starting field. Rood made the winning move on lap-six by passing Jack Terrell.

Phil Marsden ended a slight slump by winning the 15-lap Pure Stock finale. Dan Hoffman Sr., Rusty Marsden, Ron Hawker and Steve Woodworth followed the winner across the finish line. Marsden took the lead away from Hoffman on lap-12 and would never give it back.

Fans witnessed a tremendous race program Saturday night. The entire five division race program was completed in only three hours and forty-seven minutes. Three and four wide racing was common place in every class with strong fields in every division.

Professional DIRT Motorsports competition will continue this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro racers all in action. An "Every Direction Train Race" will also be contested. The Ryan Newman Alltel Show Car will be on the grounds with a video gaming area among the special attractions.
