DECKER WINS DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED BATTLE ROYAL AT FULTON SPEEDWAY
FULTON, NY...Billy Decker came out on top of the DIRT Big Block Modified
feature battle at Fulton Speedway on Saturday night. Decker earned the
victory over the talented 24-car starting field in the 35-lap event. The
event was the most competitive of the season on the high-banked track. The
victory for the driver of the Gypsum Wholesalers DIRT Big Block Modified was
worth $2,000.
Dave Reilley raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Big
Block Modified main event from the pole starting position. With five laps
complete Reilley continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by
Scott Prentice, Jimmy Phelps, Matt Sheppard and Jeff Rudalavage. On lap six
Prentice took the top spot away from Reilley.
Prentice would also lead the field for five circuits. It was on lap-11
when Jimmy Phelps became the third leader of the event. At the halfway mark
Phelps continued to lead and was being chased in the top five by Decker,
Sheppard, Alan Johnson and Tim Fuller. Ryan Phelps, Prentice, Tim McCreadie,
Vinnie Vitale and Pat Ward occupied positions sixth through tenth at the
halfway stage.
Decker was finally able to take the top spot away from Jimmy Phelps on
lap-20. The final portion of the race found the top five close together on
the track battling for the win. Decker was able to hold off all challengers
for this third victory of the season. Sheppard earned the second position by
edging Johnson for the spot. Tim Fuller and Tim McCreadie completed the top
five feature finishers.
Scott Nash won his first ever DIRT Sportsman main event Saturday night.
The rookie driver was followed across the finish line by Mike Bowman, Sam
Reakes IV, Mark Yorker and Donnie Wetmore Jr. Nash took the top spot away
from Bowman at the halfway mark of the 20-lap affair and never gave it back.
Pat Hobbs won the DIRT Pro Stock main event Saturday in a photo finish
over Joe Stefanski. It was the second straight feature win for Hobbs and his
third of the season. Lee Burnett, T.J. Fitzgibbons and Ray Maloney followed
the lead duo across the finish line. Hobbs took the lead away from Alan Fink
on lap three and held off the hard charging Stefanski for the victory.
Phil Marsden returned to the winners circle at the conclusion of the
15-lap Pure Stock main event. Ron Hawker, Russ Marsden Jr., Rob Whipple and
Ricky DeGroff completed the top five feature finishers. Marsden took the
top spot away from Ron Hawker on lap-five and led the rest of the distance.
Dan Williams claimed the victory in the Dwarf Car / Mod Lite main
event. Mike Isabell, Frank Doll Jr., Doug Williams and Joe Isabell followed
the winner across the finish line. Dan Williams took the top spot from Don
Fenner on lap-eight and never gave it back.
Chad Guthrie was the winner of the Four Cylinder Enduro main event.
Jerry Herbert, Sam Curcie, George Ritchie Jr. and Randy Calkins followed
Guthrie across the finish line.
The Patriot Super Sprints will make their only appearance of the season
this Saturday at Fulton Speedway. They will be joined in competition by the
DIRT Big Block Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.
