JOHNSON AND PHELPS WINS ON TERRELL'S POTATO CHIPS / RAYMOND'S CAR CARE NIGHT

FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson and Jimmy Phelps were the feature winners at Fulton Speedway Saturday on Terrell's Potato Chips / Raymond's Car Care Night. Johnson earned $2,000 for his victory in the 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature. Phelps pocketed $1,200 for his triumph in the 25-lap DIRT 358 Modified main event.

     Pete Taylor raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the pole starting position. Taylor only led the opening circuit in the 26-car starting field. John Barker took the top spot away from Taylor on lap two. Barker would only lead one lap as well. Vinnie Vitale passed Barker on lap three.

     With 10-laps complete Vitale continued to lead and was being chased in the top five by Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker and Tim Fuller. Vitale was running strong in a brand new car, but several top guns were on the way to the front of the field. Johnson took the top spot away from Vitale on lap-11 using his normal low groove.

     In the closing laps Johnson never gave the top spot back as he earned his second win of the season in the E&V Energy DIRT Big Block Modified. Decker, Pat Ward, Vitale and Jeff Rudalavage completed the top five feature finishers. Tim McCreadie, Ryan Phelps, Jimmy Phelps, Stewart Friesen and Fuller finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively.

     At the start of the 25-lap DIRT 358 Modified feature Jimmy Phelps came charging from the third starting position to lead the opening circuit. With five laps complete Phelps was being chased in the top five by Alan Johnson, Jeff Rudalavage, Dave Rauscher and Tim Fuller. With the race staying under green flag conditions drivers had no time to waste in charging to the front.

     At the halfway mark Phelps was being followed in the top five by Johnson, Fuller, Decker and Rudalavage. All five drivers raced in and out of lapped traffic in the final half of the event. Phelps held off all challengers to record the popular victory in the J&B Installations DIRT 358 Modified. Johnson had to settle for second with Decker, Fuller and Rudalavage following in the top five.

     Dave Rauscher, Pat Ward, Stewart Friesen, Todd Burley and Jeremy Smith finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively in the caution free event.

     Chad Phelps won his third DIRT Sportsman feature race of the season Saturday night. Eric Richardson, Greg Doust, Donnie Wetmore Jr. and Mike Bowman followed Phelps across the finish line. Phelps took the top spot away from Mike Bowman on lap three and he would lead the rest of the distance in the 20-lap event.

     Pat Hobbs won his second DIRT Pro Stock main event of the season Saturday night. Lee Burnett, Jason Rood, T.J. Fitzgibbons and Bob Buono completed the top five feature finishers. Hobbs led the entire 20-lap distance for the victory.

     Russ Marsden won his third Pure stock main event Saturday night. Phil Marsden, Ricky DeGroff, Steve Woodworth and Curt Prevo finished in positions second through fifth respectively. Russ Marsden passed Phil Marsden for the lead on lap seven and would go on to the victory in the 15-lap event.

     Action will continue this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars / Mod Lites and the Four Cylinder Enduro racers all in action.
