WARD HOLDS OFF FULLER FOR FEATURE WIN AT FULTON SPEEDWAY ON RIVERSIDE INN / BURDICK FORD NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Pat Ward held off Tim Fuller to record the 35-lap DIRT Big
Block Modified feature win at Fulton Speedway Saturday on Riverside Inn
/ Burdick Ford Night. Ward took the lead away from a strong running Tom
Sears on lap 11 and would lead the rest of the distance for his second
win of the season. The victory for the Gypsum Express DIRT Modified team
was worth $2,000.
Sears raced out to the early lead at the start of the Riverside Inn
/ Burdick Ford DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the pole starting
position. Sears set a fast pace from the start in the car driven
normally by Tim Sears. With five laps complete Sears was being followed
in the top five by Vinnie Vitale, Ward, Scott Prentice and Billy Decker.
With 10-laps complete Sears continued to lead and was being
followed in the top five by Ward, Prentice, Decker and Tim Fuller. Just
one circuit later Ward took the top spot away from Sears. At the halfway
mark Ward continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by
Fuller, Sears, Prentice and Decker. In the closing laps it was a two car
battle for the victory.
Fuller stayed within striking distance of Ward, but the lead never
changed hands. It was Ward's second victory of the season at the Home of
the Victoria 200. Fuller had to settle for second with Sears finishing a
strong third. Alan Johnson came from the 16th starting position to
finish fourth. Jimmy Phelps finished fifth in the competitive field.
Billy Decker, Matt Sheppard, Jeff Rudalavage, Ryan Phelps and
Vinnie Vitale finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively.
Eric Richardson passed Mark Yorker on the last turn of the final
lap to win the 20-lap DIRT Sportsman main event. Richardson slipped
under Yorker coming out of the fourth turn of the final circuit to earn
the win. Kenny Stanford, Chad Phelps and Donnie Wetmore Jr. completed
the top five feature finishers. It was Richardson's first win of the
season on the high-banked track.
Lee Burnett earned his third DIRT Pro Stock feature of the season
in dramatic fashion. Saturday night. Burnett passed Jason Rood coming
out of the fourth turn of the final lap to earn the victory in the
20-lap event. Jeremy Clark, Ray Maloney and Bob Buono finished in
positions third through fifth respectively. Burnett powered under Rood
for the victory heading to the checkered flag.
Dan Hoffman Sr. earned his first ever Pure Stock feature race win
at Fulton Speedway Saturday night. Ricky DeGroff, Chad Crouse, Dave
Emmons and Brandon Warner finished in positions second through fifth
respectively. Hoffman passed Crouse on lap-10 of the 15-lap event and
led the rest of the distance for the victory.
Troy VanAllen returned to the winners circle at the conclusion of
the 15-lap Dwarf Car / Mod Lite main event. Brian Woodhall, Darren
Forbes, Tim Devendorf and Don Fenner finished in positons second through
fifth respectively. Forbes took the lead away from Fenner on lap-10 and
would lead the rest of the distance for the victory.
Action will continue this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with the
Holiday Spectacular. In race competition will be the DIRT Big Block
Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks. Special on
the track attractions include the Four Cylinder Enduro cars and the
ATV-Four Wheeler racers. A gigantic fireworks display will also be
presented. Race time is set for 7 p.m.
Regular admission prices will be in effect for the Holiday
Spectacular. Adult admission is $12 and youth ages 10-14 will be
admitted for only $5. All those nine years of age and under will be
