PHELPS CLAIMS FIRST FEATURE WIN OF THE SEASON ON BUDWEISER NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Jimmy Phelps continued his late season charge by winning the
35-lap DIRT 358 Modified feature at Fulton Speedway last Saturday on
Budweiser Beer Night. It was the first win of the season for the
Baldwinsville, N.Y. driver at the Home of the Dynomax Victoria 200. The
victory for the Phelps Family Racing Team was worth $1,500.
Phelps jumped out to the early lead at the start
of the Budweiser Beer DIRT 358 Modified feature from the pole starting
position. Outside pole starter Jeff Rudalavage came on to lead the second
circuit. Phelps regained the lead once again on lap three. The top spot
changed hands once again with Rudalavage leading on lap seven. The battle
for the lead between Rudalavage and Phelps was a good one.
At the halfway point Rudalavage and Phelps
continued to run first and second and were followed in the top five by
Jeremy Smith, Justin Haers and Ryan Baye. Rudalavage lost his bid for
victory on lap-19 after tangling with the lapped car of Kevin Crave down
the backstretch. This gave the lead back to Phelps and he was able to take
advantage of the misfortune of Rudalavage.
In the closing laps Phelps was able to hold off
all challengers for the victory. Tom Sears Jr. made a late race charge to
finish second. With the second place finish Sears earned the Victoria 200
All Star Race qualifying spot. Tom Kinsella, Justin Haers and Jeremy Smith
completed the top five feature finishers.
Ryan Richardson claimed the victory in the 20-lap
DIRT Sportsman feature race. Bob Henry Jr., Eric Richardson, Mike Button
and Todd Henderson completed the top five feature finishers. Richardson
led the entire 20-lap distance and was able to hold off the late race
charge by Henry.
Jeremy Clark returned to the winners circle at
the conclusion of the 20-lap DIRT Pro Stock main event. Chad Homan, Scott
Moyer, Bret Belden and John Pietrowicz followed Clark across the finish
line. The victory added to the successful season by Clark who claimed his
second straight track title.
Phil Marsden won the battle in the 15-lap Pure
Stock finale. Russ Marsden, Todd Storace, John Phillips and Steve
Woodworth completed the top five feature finishers behind Phil Marsden.
Marsden was another track championship that claimed a feature win last
Saturday.
Daryl Carl claimed the win in the 32-car Four
Cylinder Enduro. Chad Guthrie, Dan Hoffman Jr., Troy Engerbretsen and Chad
Guthrie followed Carl across the finish line.
