JOHNSON
CLAIMS FIFTH FEATURE WIN OF THE SEASON WHILE FULLER EARNS 2003 TITLE
FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson continued his late season mastery of Fulton
Speedway last Saturday night as he claimed his fifth feature victory of
the 2003 season at the Home of the Dynomax Victoria 200. By virtue of his
second place finish Tim Fuller earned the 2003 DIRT 358 Modified Track
Championship in the B&F General Machine entry.
Jim Witko raced out to the early lead at the
start of the DIRT 358 Modified main event from the outside pole starting
position. Witko set a fast pace from the start and after five circuits he
was being followed in the top five by John Ramsey, Roy Shields, Justin
Haers and Todd Burley. Witko would lead the opening eight laps of the main
event.
Justin Haers took the top spot away from Witko on
lap nine. Haers led the talented field until lap 17 when he lost suddenly
slowed down the backstretch. Ramsey led the field at the halfway point and
was followed in the top five by Haers, Witko, Burley and Dale Planck.
Fuller, Johnson, Tom Sears, Jimmy Phelps and Jeremy Smith raced in
positions sixth through tenth at the halfway mark.
Once in front Ramsey attempted to open up his
lead from the rest of the pack. A caution on lap 29 slowed the event for
the final time. Johnson restarted the event in second spot and before one
more lap was complete he was the leader. Johnson went on to the victory
with Fuller following in second. Ramsey finished a strong third with Witko
earning his career best finish in fourth. Planck completed the top five.
Greg Doust won his second DIRT Sportsman feature
race of the season last Saturday night. Mike Button, Walt McArdell, Chad
Phelps and Donnie Wetmore Jr. followed Doust across the finish line. The
ninth place finish of Tim Sears was good enough to earn the 2003 DIRT
Sportsman Track Championship. Doust and Button traded the lead back and
forth during the caution free 20-lap main event.
Jeremy Clark earned his second straight Fulton
Speedway DIRT Pro Stock Track Champion with another feature win last
Saturday night. Joe Ladouceur, Jason Rood, Ray Maloney and Lee Burnett
completed the top five feature finishers behind Clark. On lap eight Clark
took the top spot away from Paul Stoneburg and he would lead the rest of
the way in the 20-lap affair.
Todd Storace won his fifth Pure Stock feature
race last Saturday night. Russ Marsden, Jay McGillicuddy, Chris Cunningham
and Don Stevenson chased Storace across the finish line. By virtue of his
ninth place feature finish Phil Marsden earned the 2003 Pure Stock Track
title. Storace took the top spot away from McGillicuddy on lap 10 and he
would lead the final five circuits.
Daryl Carl claimed the win in the 35-car Four
Cylinder Enduro main event. Dan Hoffman Sr., Jerry Herbert, Chad Guthrie
and Chad Crouse completed the top five feature finishers.
Action will continue this Saturday at Fulton
Speedway with the DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks,
Pure Stocks and the Four Cylinder Enduro Racers all in action. The 358
Modifieds will battle for a Victoria 200 Weekend All Star spot. Race time
is set for 7 p.m. For more information please call the track office at
