ALAN JOHNSON USES PATIENCE IN VICTORY ON RAYMOND'S CAR CARE / ALLTEL NIGHT
FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson drove his typical race last Saturday at Fulton
Speedway on Raymond's Car Care / Alltel Night. Starting deep in the 25-car
starting field Johnson used patience on his way to the front of the pack.
For several laps it appeared that it was not going to be a good night for
the defending track champion. But, once in front Johnson had the field
covered and went on to victory in the 35-lap event.
Jim Larock jumped out to the early lead at the
start of the Raymond's Car Care / Alltel DIRT 358 Modified feature from
the outside pole starting position. Larock would lead the opening two
circuits of the main event. Gus Schmidt took the lead away from Larock on
lap three. Schmidt was running strong and after five circuits he was being
followed in the top five by Todd Burley, Jeremy Smith, Larock and Mike
Prentice.
Burley became the third leader of the event on
lap 10. Burley would lead the field through lap 16. It was on lap 17 when
Alan Johnson took the top spot away from Burley. Johnson moved up steady
from the 16th position and used the bottom of the track to perfection. It
was the third win of the season for Johnson at the Home of the Dynomax
Victoria 200.
Jimmy Phelps had his best outing of the season
with a strong second place finish. Jeff Rudalavage came from the 19th
starting position to finish third. Tim Fuller and Dale Planck completed
the top five feature finishers. Both drivers continue to battle for the
season long point championship with Planck owning a seven point lead at
this time. Tom Sears, Jeremy Smith, Tim Burnett, Craig Terrell and Dave
Rauscher finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively.
Eric Richardson won his first DIRT Sportsman
feature race of the season last Saturday night. Ryan Richardson, Jeremy
Pitcher, Walt McArdell and Chad Phelps crossed the finish line in
positions second through fifth respectively. Eric Richardson took the lead
away from Pitcher on lap-12 and led the rest of the way in the 20-lap
event.
Lee Burnett returned to the winners cicrle at the
conclusion of the 20-lap rain delayed DIRT Pro Stock feature. John
Pietrowicz, Jeremy Clark, Jason Rood and Scott Beeles followed Burnett
across the finish line. Burnett took the lead away from T.J. Fitzgibbons
on lap-13 and led the rest of the distance in the 20-lap event.

race of the season in the regular 20-lap event. Jeremy Clark, Ray Maloney,
Lee Burnett and Jason Rood followed Barron across the finish line. Barron
took the lead away from Scott Beeles on lap three and led the rest of the
way in the 20-lap event.

the rain delayed Pure Stock feature race. Phil Marsden, Todd Storace, Mark
Davison and Joe Buske finished in positions second through fifth
respectively. Marsden took the top spot away from Chris Cunningham on
lap-11 and led the rest of the way to the finish.
