CRAWN WINS FIRST EVER DIRT 358 MODIFIED FEATURE AT FULTON

      FULTON, NY...Jim Crawn won his first ever DIRT 358 Modified feature at Fulton Speedway last Saturday night. The win for the Leraysville, PA driver came on NGK Spark Plugs Night. Crawn edged defending Track Champion Alan Johnson for the win which was good for a guaranteed starting position in the 358 Modified Championship at Syracuse this October.

     Bill Shantel raced out to the early lead at the start of the NGK Spark Plugs DIRT 358 Modified feature from the pole starting position. After five laps Shantel continued to lead with Wayne Reutimann Jr., Joel Thomas, Crawn and Roy Shields following in the top five. Shantel would lead the opening seven laps of the main event.

     Crawn took the top spot away from Shantel on lap eight. Reutimann became the third leader of the race on lap 12. The second generation driver was having his best outing ever at Fulton Speedway, but Crawn was doing the same. Crawn reagined the lead on lap 14 as the two Fulton Speedway regulars were putting on quite a show.

     At the halfway point of the 35 lap main event Crawn was being followed in the top five by Charlie Donk, Reutimann, Alan Johnson and J.J. Michaels. Racing in positions sixth through tenth at this stage of the race in order included Shields, Jeff Rudalavage, Matt Sheppard, Jim Mahaney and Ty Hunt.

     Johnson moved into second place on lap 27 as he worked his way by Donk. Johnson quickly closed in on Crawn and the battle for the win was on. The race was in doubt until the final turn of the final lap, with Crawn holding on for his first ever DIRT 358 Modified feature win at Fulton Speedway.  Crawn earned $1,500 for the victory. Johnson, Sheppard, Donk and Rudalavage completed the top five feature finishers.

     Steve Way won his first DIRT Sportsman feature of the season last Saturday night. Way was followed across the finish line by Dave Bargabos, Tom Juhl, Paul Kinney and Greg Doust. Way led the entire 20 lap distance. Bargabos and Juhl were close at the end, but Way held on for the victory.

     Jerry Holmes won his first DIRT Pro Stock feature of the season last Saturday night. Holmes was the winner over Joe Jackson, Paul Stoneburg, Ricky Breed and John Pietrowicz. Stoneburg led the first three laps of the feature before Holmes took over on lap four of the 20 lap event.

    Jeff Pastorella won his first Pure Stock feature of the season last Saturday night. Pastorella was the race winner over Darren Kelso, Chris Cunningham, Bruce Stanton and Ken Connor. Pastorella took the lead from Todd Storace on lap eight of the 15 lap main event.

     FULTON NOTES---Brett Relyea earned $500 for his win in the Demolition Derby...Racing started just past 8 p.m. as a late afternoon shower delayed the action...Racing will continue this Saturday at Fulton Speedway with a four division show of DIRT 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, Four Cylinder Enduro and One On One Spectator races.
