TOP DRIVERS HONORED AT 2001 FULTON SPEEDWAY AWARDS BANQUET

FULTON, NY…The top drivers from the 2001 season at Fulton Speedway were all honored at the recent Awards Banquet held at the Volney Fire Hall. The drivers in the DIRT 358 Modified, DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stock and Pure Stock divisions received over $19,000 in cash and awards. The Awards Banquet concluded the 2001 season at the home of the Victoria 200.

     Matt Sheppard claimed the 2001 Fulton Speedway DIRT 358 Modified Track Championship. The 19 year-old rookie driver became the youngest Track Champion in the history of Fulton Speedway. Alan Johnson, Jeff Rudalavage, Jimmy Phelps, Ryan Baye, Jim Mahaney, J.J. Michaels, John Barker, Rick Miller and John Ramsey completed the top ten in the final rankings.

     Tim Sears won his second straight Fulton Speedway DIRT Sportsman Track Championship. Sears truly earned this title as he edged Tom Juhl Jr. in the final standings by just one point. Greg Doust, Shane Donath, Mike Button, Jeremy Pitcher, Dave Bargabos, Jim Kite, Shawn Donath and Willy Decker followed Sears and Juhl in the final standings.

     Tom Barron claimed his first ever Fulton Speedway DIRT Pro Stock Track Championship in 2001. The title for Barron came in his first complete season of competition on the multi-groove Fulton track. John Pietrowicz, T.J. Fitzgibbons, Jerry Holmes, Ricky Breed, Jason Rood, Dave Fox, Dave Moyer, Ryan Buskey and Paul Stoneburg completed the top ten in the final rankings.

     Jeff Pastorella won his first ever Fulton Speedway Pure Stock Track Championship. Pastorella was followed in the final standings by Darren Kelso, Bruce Stanton, Ken Conners, Paul Mercier, Dennis Brown, Gary Barton, Bill Allen, Chris Cunningham and Joe Buske.

     Matt Sheppard was named the Rookie of the Year in the 358 Modified class. Ronnie Loveless earned the Rookie of the Year in the Sportsman ranks. Jeremy Clark was named the Pro Stock Rookie of the Year. Billy Allen claimed the Rookie of the Year Award in the Pure Stock division.

     Jeff Rudalavage claimed the Most Improved Driver of the Year Award in the 358 Modified class. Shane Donath earned the Most Improved Driver Award in the Sportsman ranks. Dave Fox received the Most Improved Driver of the Year in the Pro Stock class. Bruce Stanton earned the Most Improved Driver Award in the Pure Stock division. All Most Improved Driver of the Year Awards were presented by Can-Am Enterprises.

     Several special awards were also presented at the 2001 Awards Banquet. Track Officials Ray Turner and Dave Ritchie were presented with Outstanding Service Awards. Jeff Carson of the Carson Automotive Group was cited for his support of the track in providing the Official Pace Truck. Duane Van Gelder of the Wayuga Community Newspapers received the Media Award. Pure Stock Driver Joe Buske was also honored for his dedicated efforts on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network.
