Fulton Speedway Hosts Syracuse.com Night!

Fulton NY - By Dave Medler - This Saturday night, May 17th at the Fulton Speedway it will be Syracuse.com night, a long time sponsor at the speedway. The DIRT Big Block Modifieds, DIRTcar Crate Sportsman, E&V Energy Rookie Crate Sportsman, plus Four Cylinder Enduros. The UMP Street Stocks will be running a 20-lap feature.

Alan Johnson in the Bullys Truck Stop No.14j. Showed the competition that he will be threat to win the 2008 DIRT Big Block Modified Title. Johnson after a torrid early race battle with his brother Danny cruised to the win in the season opener.

After engine problems sidelined Danny in the JIR Motorsports 27j look for him to make a come back this week with his rim riding style.

Never count out defending Track Champion Jimmy Phelps in the J&B Installations, No.99j. Throw into the mix the Brothers of Tim and Tom Sears, Ryan Phelps, Sean Beardsley,Steve Hulsizer, Kevin Bates, Willy Decker and others, look for this season to be wide open for top honors.

The name Reakes sits at the top in winners so far in 2008. The father and son team of Sammy Reakes III and Sammy Reakes IV have picked up the wins in early season action. Defending Track Champion Jeremy Pitcher will be a weekly threat to defend his title. Tom Juhl, Rookie Tim Sears Jr., Greg Carner and others will be knocking on the door in 2008 for wins.

With only one feature run in 2008 the UMP Street Stocks are led in the point standings by Dave Mannise and Steve Crouse. Defending Track Champion Ron Hawker should be near the top every week looking to defend his title. Never count out Nick Rizzo, Steve Woodworth and Jim Wallace. This class is so competitive features are usually in doubt till the final checkers.

So far in the E&V Energy Rookie Crate Sportsman there has been two winners in two events. On opening night John Wilber picked up the victory, last week Mark Olmstead was first under the checkers. In the E&V Energy Rookie Crates you never know who’s going to show up behind the wheel of a car.

Fulton NY, May 10th - By Dave Medler - Alan Johnson showed that once again he will be a threat to win the DIRTcar Big Block Modified track title in 2008. Alan dominated the caution free 35-lap main on Saturday night by a half a track over defending track Champion Jimmy Phelps.

In other action history seemed to be made as the father and son team of Sammy Reakes III and Sammy Reakes IV won a pair of 20-lap DIRTcar Crate Sportsman features. Dave Mannise took top honors in the 20-lap UMP Street Stocks, Doug Williams backed up his win at Brewerton Friday night in dominating fashion taking the Mod-Lite feature, Former Enduro runner Mark Olmstead found victory lane in the E&V Energy Rookie Crate Sportsman class with Jon Shumway winning the Enduros.

JIR Motorsports team mates Danny Johnson and Alan Fink led the 26-car starting field down to the first green flag of the season with Johnson grabbing the lead heading into the first turn. Brother Alan Johnson jumped from his fourth starting position to second, setting up what everyone in the stands thought would be another classic Johnson brother battle. Timmy Sears joined the fray making it a tight three car battle for the top spot.

In classic Johnson’s style with Danny on the top side and Alan running the low side, the two battled side by side with Sears right there waiting for the top two to make a mistake. On lap-10 going through turns one and two Danny slid up the track allowing Alan to grab the lead going down the back straight. As the top three came across the start finish line on lap-11 Danny suddenly slowed and headed to the pits with mechanical problems ending his night. [Full Story]

ASCS Patriot Opener at Fulton Not Yet Completed

Rich Vleck, FULTON, NY (May 3, 2008)- The 2008 ASCS Patriot Season is underway, but the first race is not yet in the books.

A fantastic opening event at the Fulton Speedway was rain-shortened on Saturday, as the heavy band of rain that wreaked havoc on much of the Northeast hit the 3/8-mile oval just before the ASCS Patriot A-Main.

Plans are still being finalized for the date of completion for the 25-lap A-Main. The date will be announced soon and will definitely be held later in the season.

With an impressive 34 cars in the pit area to begin the sixth season of ASCS Patriot competition, four competitive heats, along with a pair of B-Mains and the first “Four Laps of Fame Dash” got the season started on the right foot; the second step though ended up in a puddle of water.

Tommy Wickham captured the first heat race over Justin Barger, with Don Adamczyk impressively scoring the win in the second National Parts Peddler Heat. Jared Zimbardi held off Chuck Hebing in a wildly entertaining heat three, while Jason Barney withstood the charges of Bobby Breen to score the win in the final heat.

Jeff Cook and Bryan Howland battled for the win in the Riverside Bar and Grill Four Laps of Fame, with Cook coming out on top. Blake Breen and Ray Preston would pick up the wins in the B-Mains.

With the 22 qualified starters staged at the track entrance, the massive weather system moved in and reached a point of no return, forcing the postponement of the feature.

With the new ASCS redraw format being employed, Don Adamczyk will start the feature on the pole, with Chuck Hebing starting to his outside. [Results]

A New Season of ASCS Patriot Racing Begins Saturday at Fulton

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (April 26, 2008)- In what is expected to be a landmark year for the ASCS Patriot Region, the 2008 season gets underway this Saturday at one of the finest facilities on the circuit.

Fulton Speedway will play host to the ASCS Patriot lid-lifter for the second-straight year as the high-banked Central New York enters the month of May with the winged warriors coming to life.

In last year’s season opener, Chuck Hebing survived a major scare in the closing laps, catching the inside berm and at one point having all four wheels clear off the ground, to win his second-straight season opener.

This race might be of larger significance as the winner of the first ASCS Patriot race of the season has gone on to win the series championship each of the last three years. Drivers like Hebing, Howland, Jared Zimbardi, Don Adamczyk and more hope to set themselves up to become the fourth this weekend.

This will also be the first race with the all-new race format; taking the top eight cars in passing points and having them redraw for the feature. The six cars behind them in passing points will now have the opportunity to run the Riverside Bar and Grill Four Laps of Fame Race, which will help them get ready to charge forward in the first 25-lap feature of the year.

The ASCS Patriots have the best rookie class assembled in recent memory as no fewere than five drivers will vie for the Insinger Race Fuels Rookie of the Year Title. Robbie Shuttleworth and Jimmy Broderick move up from mini and micro sprint ranks this year while Brewerton residents Joe August Jr. and Tim Devendorf have short travel to run their first sprint races. Rounding out the known class of 2008 is T.J. Newton, who will split time between his own 360 Late Model and the Eric and Eileen Smith No. 57 Sprint this year.

This will also be the first race of the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Series, which began and ended at the 3/8-mile Oswego County clay oval last season. The brand new ASI Racewear t-shirts highlighting that series, along with hoodies, hats, magnets and more will help to fill the Ohsweken Speedway sponsored merchandise trailer that will be on hand.

Early indications are for one of the most impressive car counts of the season, with drivers from both Southern and Northern Ontario, Western New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut already confirmed for this superstar event.

To see the likes of Ray Preston, Dave Wickham, Blake and Bobby Breen, Chris Muhleisen, all the names already mentioned, and much more, the only place to be is Fulton Speedway this Saturday Night, with racing starting at 7:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.ASCSpatriotsprints.com or www.ASCSracing.com.

Fulton Speedway To Open In Big Fashion For 2008

Fulton, NY- Dave Medler/ Rich Vleck (April 30th) - Last Saturday night cars were rolling into Fulton speedway at 5pm when the gates were set to open for the first race of the 2008 season when the skies opened up and put an end to the season opener.
"When we looked at the radar and other tracks already cancelling we knew it was the right thing to do," said track promoter Art Halliday. "With the price of gas now we didn’t want our racers and fans have to come to the track for no reason."
This Saturday night, May 3rd the season will kick off in big fashion as the ASCS - Patriot Sprints will kick off their 2008 season. Also on the card will be the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and the popular Street Stocks.
Drivers like Hebing, Howland, Jared Zimbardi, Don Adamczyk and more hope to set themselves up to become the fourth this weekend.[Full Story]

Mother Nature Grabs Victory at Fulton

By: Skip Howe Fulton, NY ( 4/26/08) – Mother Nature decided to ruin the plan’s of drivers and fans alike, last Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway. When the haulers first started to arrive and the fans came thru the gate the skies where threatening, but everyone had there fingers crossed that the unattractive clouds overhead would pass by, that wasn’t to be. At about 5:10pm the clouds opened up, the sound of rumble and the brightness of lightning had arrived, so promoter Art Halladay, had no choice, but to pull the plug. “I can’t wait, to see what happens it’s very nasty out there, the track is going to be lost, so there is no sense in keeping the drivers or people waiting and happening.,” Halladay said. Drivers from Pennsylvania who made the trip decided they would hang out and go racing on Sunday. “You can’t come all this way and not go racing somewhere, we’ll talk about and decide where we’ll go tomorrow.” So, with the opening night a wash, Fulton Speedway looks forward to next weeks show (May 3rd), when the Patriot Sprint Group make their first visit of the season to the high banks 3/8th mile clay oval. Gates open at 5pm and racing starts at 7pm sharp. The Fulton Speedway is located aprox five miles south of the City of Fulton and the Interstate 481 interchange.
