Billy Clark Jr. And AJ Kingsley Pick Up Big Wins At Fulton Speedway

FULTON, NY September 18, 2010 – Billy Clark Jr. and AJ Kingsley were the big winners Saturday night in the SUNY Canton Sportsman and NAPA Late Models as they both picked up feature wins and guaranteed starting spots in their divisions in the upcoming 25th annual “Outlaw 200” weekend presented by SUNY Canton on October, 1st and 2nd on the Fulton Speedway high banks.

Other winners Saturday night were, Josh Blackwell E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Gary Jeffries Mod Lites, Jim Money Four-Cylinder Super Stocks and Mark Johnston Gladiators.

Jeremy Pitcher got the jump on the field as he led the opening lap by inches over Rob Humphreys at the stripe in the 20 lap SUNY Canton Sportsman feature.

After a quick yellow, Humphreys got a great restart grabbing the lead from Pitcher as did Billy Clark Jr. who started 6th, he moved into 2nd dropping Pitcher to third.

On lap 5 Clark using the bottom drove by Humphreys to be scored the new leader, Jordan Bennett, Pitcher and Justin Henderson showed in the top-five.

At the halfway point Clark opened up a 2 second lead, Humphreys ran alone in 2nd with Pitcher, Bennett and Brandon Sweet running a distant third through fifth.

Over the second half of the race even with yellows to tighten the field up, nobody had anything for Clark as he drove away for his first win of the 2010 season. Pitcher, Humphreys, Sweet and Henderson rounded out the top-five.

An emotional Billy Clark Jr. who had a season he said he wanted to forget thanked his Crew, sponsors, and family for sticking with him. He also gave a big thanks to Eric Kingsley for helping him get his car going in the right direction.

In the 20 lap NAPA Late Model feature Gordy Button led the opening 2 laps before AJ Kingsley running the cushion took the lead on lap three.

At the halfway point lap 10, Kingsley and Sean Beardsley took off from the rest of the field while Button, Gus Schmidt and Dale Caswell fought for third through fifth.

With 5 laps to go, Kingsley led by a comfortable margin over Beardsley.  Button, Schmidt and Caswell ran inches apart for top-five finishes.

Over the remaining laps Kingsley hit his marks as he was the first under the checkers for his 3rd win of the season. Beardsley, Schmidt, Button and Caswell rounded out the top-five.

Gary Jeffries who was the hottest driver in the Mod Lites over the last half of the 2010 season led the opening laps of the 20 lap feature. Sterling Miller wasn’t going to let Jeffries just drive away for another easy win. Jeffries and Miller would swap the lead back and forth over the second half of the race till a couple late yellows. The yellows seemed to slow down the momentum down Miller had as Jeffries grabbed the win. Miller, Joe Garafolo, Doug Williams and Lowell Zehr rounded out the top-five.

In the final E&V Energy Novice Sportsman feature of the 2010 season Josh Blackwell took the lead at the halfway point and was never seriously challenged after that for his 2nd win of the year. Colton Donath, Bill Thomas, Jim Graham and Scott Kline chased Blackwell across the line.

Jim Money did something very few have done during the 2010 season in the Four-Cylinder Super Stocks, beat Stephen Denton. Jim Money took the lead from Denton on lap 3 of the 15 lap feature. Once in the lead Money was never seriously challenged the rest of the way for the win. Denton, Brett Johnson, Wendall Washington and Sam Carista rounded out the top-five.

Mark Johnston took top honors in the Gladiators holding off Skip DeGroff. Eric M Zirbel, Jerry Herbert and Keith Zirbel finished third through fifth.
