Katelyn Kane to test her racing skills on the asphalt this Thursday as she gets behind the wheel of an Asphalt Late Model at the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway

October 30, 2012, Syracuse, NY– This Thursday morning local Sportsman Modified driver Katelyn Kane will be headed to the airport for one of her final trips to Denver, NC to attend RACE 101 class. As part of the class curriculum each student will have the opportunity to test an Asphalt Late Model at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC. Kane, who has only raced on the dirt is very excited about this unique opportunity she is given.

“I really just want to be smooth,” explains Kane, “I am so used to the dirt and backing the cars into the corners, this experience is really going to test my versatility as a driver, everything will be backwards. I just hope to get the hang of it before my test session is over.”

Kane looks forward to meeting with her fellow classmates one last time this weekend before graduation early next year. She aims to absorb all she can during her test session in the Asphalt Late Model, but assures her fans they can still find her on the dirt next season.

“It’s been a long summer and I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s seasons and plans for next year,” Kane says, “I feel very lucky to be given this once in a lifetime opportunity to test on the pavement, if you were to ask me at the start of my career if I would ever get in a racecar on pavement I would have replied ‘asphalt is just for getting there’ however, as I have developed as a driver I realize the importance to be versatile and adapt quickly to changing track conditions and I think this is a great way to tap in to that versatility.”

Kane further explains that she knows how important it is for a driver to know how to adapt to changing conditions, and as she forwards her career up the local dirt ranks that versatility is going to come into play a lot more than it has in the past.
