Fulton Speedway's Eve Of Destruction II A Smashing Success

FULTON, NY - August 15, 2012) - In front of a huge, loud crowd Wednesday night  at the Fulton Speedway, there was explosions, fire, crunching metal, smashed boats and flying vehicles that left the crowd wanting more after the Eve Of Destruction II.

The always entertaining Lawn Mower Racers hit the speedway  for a pair of races. Taking the wins were, Fuji Horning and JJ Curcie. Fulton and Brewerton Speedways' announcer Bill "The Bullet" Foley ran his first ever race with mixed results.

Stuntman Chris Morena who is famous for his movie stunts and his own thrill show started out the night barrel rolling a car off a ramp amidst a large explosion that shook the grandstand making most in the crowd jump from the noise. The only thing that came out in one piece from the stunt was Chris himself.

When cars came out of the pits with boats chained to their back bumpers  most in the grandstands didn't know what to expect . With boat debris spread all over the racing surface from cars trying to take each other's boats off the back of the cars with their own car, the winner Jeff Hadden barely had enough attached to his bumper to be declared the winner.

What can you do with two motor homes and a camper that is ready for the scrap yard? Give them one last ride that is memorable. In true Morena  fashion he set one of the motor homes in front of a ramp while the other motor home with the camper trailer in tow headed for their final demise.

After taking a lap to judge the speed needed to hit the ramp the next time around, Morena hit the parked motor home in a ball of flame and explosion sending camper parts flying everywhere as Morena  landed hard on the motor home driver's side.

Then it was time for the big car demolition derby after the crowd caught its breath.   When the checkered was thrown amongst all the smoke and carnage, Josh Decker out of Whitney Point, NY was declared the $1,000 winner.

Chris Morena's final stunt was called the "Suicide Spiral Jump" . Those in attendance wondered how he was going to hit a single ramp no wider than a 2x4 piece of steel without falling short of his landing target that consisted of only crushed cars to cushion his landing.

Morena hit the ramp perfectly in a fireball and explosion launching his car into a series of spiral rolls in the air barely hitting his land target. Once out of the car unhurt, it was wondered how, as the roof of his car was caved in.

The final event of the night didn't disappoint when the small car demo derby came out. With smoke, fire, debris and carnage everywhere, Fulton Speedway NAPA Late Model driver Alan "Woosh" Fink was the final car running for the $1,000 top prize. Not to be outdone, Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified Driver "Lightning" Larry Wight finished third in a ball of flames in his car's rear-end. Wight got out unharmed.

The best way to sum up the night, is all the vehicles involved in the event are heading to the scrap yard to become  future soda and beer cans. Plans are already in motion with Chris Morena to make next year's "Eve Of Destruction III" bigger and better.

Racing will resume this Saturday night, August 18th, as Tracey Road Equipment and Oswego County ATV Club present a night of affordable, family fun. On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman,Parts Plus Four Cylinder Stocks and a mechanics race.
